These tutorials are divided into JAM and JavaGen sections.

JAM Tutorials

To learn about JAM, the modular Ant tool kit for building J2EE applications, refer to the JAM User's Guide and EJB JAMing step-by-step tutorial . Although there are no tutorials for the other types of applications supported by JAM, the following list contains example applications to look at if you want to:

• Build Web apps - web module of javagen-petstore, download sample applications.
• Build EAR Files - ear module of javagen-petstore sample application.
• All Above Files - all-javagen-examples.

Also highly recommended are these books: Java Development with Ant, JUnit in Action and XDoclet in Action. Unfortunately, there are no books out on Maven, however there are a few decent articles located here.

JavaGen Tutorials

For an introduction to JavaGen, the UML-to-J2EE application code generator, start by reading the JAM Tutorials, then proceed to the UML-to-EJB Tutorials. To see a real-world JavaGen application, download and build the JavaGen Petstore.

For understanding the logic and technology behind the generated code, we recommend these books: EJB Design Patterns, Mastering Enterprise Java Beans Second Edition, Developing EJB 2.0 Components, Struts in Action and JSTL in Action.

J2EE and code generation are complex topics and we do not attempt to cover them comprehensibly here. The intent of these tutorials is to demonstrate the viability of this process and answer technical questions through hands-on examples. Our experience has taught us that this technology is much more effective when offered as a service, rather than just a development tool. JavaGen was designed as the foundation of this service.
